How to connect Microsoft Dynamics 365 to LinkedScope

Connect Microsoft Dynamics 365 to LinkedScope to match your opportunities with LinkedIn Ads and see which accounts reached by your ads turned into pipeline, won or lost revenue. The Dynamics 365 connection is read-only: LinkedScope does not create or change records in your CRM.

  • Time: 5 minutes
  • Who can do it: LinkedScope account owner or admin
  • Method: Environment URL + Microsoft sign-in (OAuth)
  • Access: Read-only

Before you start

  • Owner or admin access to the LinkedScope account, to see the Integrations tab.
  • A plan that includes CRM integration. If the card shows a Blocked button, your current plan does not include CRM. Check Settings > Subscription.
  • Your LinkedIn Ads account connected. Without it, LinkedScope has nothing to match your CRM data against.
  • A Dynamics 365 Sales (Dataverse) environment in the Microsoft commercial cloud, with an address like https://yourorg.crm.dynamics.com (the number after crm depends on the region, such as crm2 or crm4). Government and sovereign clouds are not supported.
  • A Dynamics user who can read opportunities, accounts, users, business process flows and stages, and currencies. So that no opportunity is left out, this user’s security role must read opportunities and accounts at the Organization level.

One CRM at a time
Each LinkedScope account connects to one CRM at a time. If another CRM is already connected, the Microsoft Dynamics card is disabled with the message “Disconnect the current CRM to connect a new account”.

Find the environment URL

  1. Open the Power Platform admin center (admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com).
  2. Go to Manage > Environments and select the environment that runs Dynamics 365 Sales.
  3. Copy the Environment URL from the details.

Shortcut: open Dynamics 365 in your browser and copy only the start of the address, up to .dynamics.com. For example, from https://yourorg.crm4.dynamics.com/main.aspx?appid=…, use https://yourorg.crm4.dynamics.com.

Connect Microsoft Dynamics 365

  1. Open integrations
In LinkedScope, click Settings in the sidebar and open the Integrations tab.
  2. Enter the environment URL
On the Microsoft Dynamics 365 card, paste the URL into the Dynamics environment URL field. The button is enabled only with a valid Dynamics address.Microsoft Dynamics 365 card on the Integrations tab, with the environment URL
  3. Click Connect account
You will be taken to the Microsoft sign-in screen.
  4. Sign in with your Microsoft account
Sign in with the Dynamics user that the integration should use.
  5. Accept the permissions
Review the permissions and click Accept. If your organization requires admin approval for apps, a Microsoft Entra ID admin must approve LinkedScope first.
  6. Confirm the connection
LinkedScope checks that the user can read the required tables and sends you back to the Integrations tab with the message Account connected successfully. The card now shows the Disconnect account button.

First sync
Right after connecting, LinkedScope starts importing opportunities from the last two years. This usually takes a few minutes, longer for CRMs with many records. You can keep using the platform in the meantime.

Requested permissions

PermissionPurpose
user_impersonation (Dynamics CRM)Read data from the environment you entered, with the same permissions as the connected user
offline_accessKeep the connection active for automatic syncs, without signing in again
openid and profileIdentify the user who authorized the connection

The Dynamics permission applies only to the environment whose URL you entered.

Configure after connecting

  • Pipeline selection: in Dynamics 365, pipelines are the active opportunity business process flows. On the Microsoft Dynamics card, choose which ones are analyzed. By default all of them count, including ones created later. Opportunities without a process flow show up in the “Dynamics 365” pipeline.
  • Deal influence impression threshold: the minimum number of impressions a company must have received before the deal was created for it to count as influenced. The default is 7.
  • Deal name fallback matching: when the company domain and name in the CRM don’t match LinkedIn data, uses the deal name as a last resort.
  • Sync CRM: LinkedScope syncs automatically Monday to Friday at 03:00 UTC. Use the button to force an update after big changes in the CRM.

To understand how LinkedScope links deals to companies, see CRM integrations: how they work.

What data LinkedScope reads

LinkedScope reads only what it needs to measure LinkedIn Ads influence, considering opportunities created or closed in the last two years:

DataWhat it is used for
OpportunitiesName, value (actual when closed, otherwise estimated), stage, created and close dates, won/lost status and owner
AccountsName and website of the account linked to each opportunity, for company attribution
Process flows and stagesActive opportunity business process flows and their stages, which act as pipelines
UsersName and email of active users, to show the owner of each opportunity
CurrenciesCurrency code of each opportunity

Credentials are stored encrypted and are never shown back on screen.

Where the data shows up

  • Pipeline Impact: open, won and lost pipeline from companies reached by your ads, with the list of opportunities.
  • Reached Companies: which companies reached by your ads have opportunities in the CRM.
  • Target Accounts and Spark Prospects: engaged accounts that have not become opportunities yet, or that are already in progress.

Not available yet with Dynamics 365

The CRM automations do not work with Microsoft Dynamics 365 yet:

Pipeline analysis, Reached Companies, Target Accounts and Spark Prospects work as usual.

Disconnect or switch CRM

  • In Settings > Integrations, click Disconnect account on the Microsoft Dynamics card.
  • CRM data stops showing in reports and syncs stop. Nothing is deleted in Dynamics.
  • To switch environments or CRMs, disconnect the current one and connect the new one.

Revoke access in Microsoft

  • User: in the My Apps portal (myapplications.microsoft.com), open the LinkedScope app and revoke the permissions you granted.
  • Admin: in the Microsoft Entra admin center, go to Enterprise applications, open the LinkedScope app and review or revoke its permissions, or block sign-in to the app.

Frequently asked questions

Which URL do I enter?

The Dynamics 365 environment URL, domain only: https://yourorg.crm.dynamics.com or with the region number, such as https://yourorg.crm4.dynamics.com. Don’t include /main.aspx or any other path.

Does it work with any Dynamics environment?

It works with Dataverse environments in the Microsoft commercial cloud, including sandboxes, as long as the connected user has access to them. Government and sovereign clouds, such as GCC High and the China cloud, are not supported.

My company runs several sales processes. Can I choose which ones count?

Yes. Opportunity business process flows act as pipelines in LinkedScope. After connecting, select on the Microsoft Dynamics card only the ones that should be analyzed.

Does LinkedScope change anything in my Dynamics?

No. The Dynamics 365 connection is read-only.

Why aren’t some opportunities linked to LinkedIn companies?

LinkedScope uses each opportunity’s account (the Account field or, when it is empty, a Potential Customer that is an account). Keep opportunities linked to an account, with the account name and website filled in. If matches are still missing, turn on deal name fallback matching in Settings > Integrations.

How long until the data shows up?

The first sync starts right after connecting and usually takes a few minutes. CRMs with many records can take longer. After that, LinkedScope syncs Monday to Friday at 03:00 UTC.
