LinkedIn Ads is LinkedScope’s main connection: campaigns, reached companies and job titles, audiences, Lead Gen Forms leads and the automations all come from it. Here is how to connect it and what access your LinkedIn user needs.
- Where: Settings > Integrations, LinkedIn card
- Who can connect: Owner and Admin
- Time: 2 minutes
- You’ll need: a user with access to the ad account in Campaign Manager
What access you need on LinkedIn
Connect with a LinkedIn user that has one of these roles on the ad account in Campaign Manager:
| Campaign Manager role | What LinkedScope can do |
|---|---|
| Account manager or Campaign manager | Everything: read data and also change campaigns (pauses, bids, exclusions, audiences and conversions). Recommended. |
| Creative manager | Read data and manage ads, but not the campaign changes made by automations. |
| Viewer | Read-only. Reports work, but automations and syncs that change campaigns fail. |
How to connect
- Open Settings > Integrations
The LinkedIn card is the first one in the Ad account category. - Click Connect account
Sign in to LinkedIn with the user that has access to the ad account and click Allow. - Select the ad account
Back in LinkedScope, pick the account from the list. The connection is only complete after this choice. - Done
The card shows the account name and ID, and the top of the screen shows Ad account with a link to it in Campaign Manager.
What happens after connecting
- Your LinkedScope account name and website are filled in from the company page, if they are still empty.
- Recent Lead Gen Forms leads are imported in the background. After that, new leads arrive in real time, with a check every 6 hours.
- If the conversion toggles were already on, the LinkedScope – Leads and LinkedScope – Qualified Leads conversions are created in the account. See How to send Lead and Qualified Lead conversions to ad networks.
- Modules that depend on LinkedIn (Dashboard, Campaigns, Leads, Reached Companies and Job Titles) stop showing the connection notice.
What about Engagers?
The Engagers module reads interactions with your company’s LinkedIn page and has its own connection, made inside Engagers.
How to change the ad account
Click Disconnect account and connect again, choosing the other account. When you switch, LinkedScope first undoes the temporary impression cap exclusions on the previous account, and conversions start being created on the new account.
Frequently asked questions
I can’t see my ad account in the list.
The user who authorized doesn’t have access to it. Ask an admin of the account in Campaign Manager to add your user and connect again.
The top of the screen says the account is restricted.
LinkedIn put the account on hold (for example, for billing or review). Resolve it in Campaign Manager: LinkedScope works normally again once the restriction is lifted.
Does the connection expire?
Access renews automatically, but LinkedIn can revoke it (for example, if the user loses access to the account or changes their password). See How to reconnect an expired integration.
