In broad-audience LinkedIn campaigns, a few companies sometimes take a large share of impressions and crowd out the rest. The impression cap per company detects that concentration and temporarily excludes the dominant companies so your budget reaches more accounts.

When the automation acts
Every day, LinkedScope analyzes the last 14 days of each active campaign. A campaign is only considered if it has at least 5,000 impressions and 300 companies reached in that period. Sponsored Messaging campaigns are left out.
An exclusion only happens when there is real dominance:
- a single company with about 5% or more of the campaign’s impressions; or
- a small group of companies that together take a disproportionate share of impressions.
A campaign with thousands of companies and none standing out is left alone, even if the top ones get slightly more impressions.
What happens when there is concentration
- The companies with the most concentrated impressions are added to the campaign’s own company exclusion list on LinkedIn.
- The number of new exclusions per day is limited so the change is gradual.
- If the company was on the campaign’s inclusion list, it moves to exclusion and returns to inclusion when restored.
When the company comes back
Each excluded company is included again at the turn of the month, provided it has been out for at least 14 days. A company excluded at the end of the month therefore only comes back early the following month, after completing its 14 days.
To avoid constant back-and-forth, a restored company has a grace period before it can be excluded again, and companies excluded many times in a short period stop being excluded.
Switching off restores everything
When you switch the toggle off, or change or disconnect the LinkedIn ad account, LinkedScope restores every company it excluded. If LinkedIn gets disconnected because access expired, the cleanup happens automatically as soon as you reconnect.
How to turn it on
- Open Settings > Account

Frequently asked questions
Where can I see which companies were excluded?
In LinkedIn Campaign Manager, in each campaign’s targeting, under excluded companies.
Can an important target account be excluded?
Yes, if it is concentrating the campaign’s impressions. The exclusion is temporary and makes room for other accounts to be reached. Track reach by company in Reached Companies: how it works.
Is there a limit on excluded companies per campaign?
LinkedIn accepts up to 200 values in a campaign’s company list, and LinkedScope respects that limit.
Does this change my Exclusion lists?
No. These exclusions are temporary and separate from LinkedScope’s Exclusion list. See How to exclude companies from your campaigns.
